Greeting
Dear Visitor, The Board of the German Statistical Society is pleased about your interest and wants to inform you about the Society´s objectives, activities, historical background as well as about its structure. The 1911 founded German Statistical Society is one of the grand German scientific associations. It represents a platform for statisticians across all fields of science and practice by offering its members and guests a forum for a transfer of knowledge, both in theoretical and applied statistics as well as for an extensive exchange of experiences. The German Statistical Society therefore maintains contacts with representatives from industry and administration as well as with related sciences and other statistical societies from abroad. Another concern of the Society is the improvement of education and training in the range of statistics. The Society´s events, the activities of its sections as well as the publications aim at fostering statistics within its different tasks - i.e. development of methodology, data collection, data compiling and data analysis - as well as their mutual interaction. The German Statistical Society thus considers itself as a link between producers and users of statistics. Last but not least it endeavours to promote the reputation of statistics in politics and in public life.
