The city of Bari stands ashore with its white limestone castle and the Basilica of Saint Nicholas, built in the heart of the historical town as a giant shrine sheltering the relics of the Saint. The territory of Bari is bejeweled by UNESCO world heritage Trulli in Alberobello and several medieval cities overlooking the beautiful southern Adriatic coast. Visiting Pugliaallows spending beautiful and relaxing vacations at close touch with inspiring history from Gargano and Daunia down to Salento. Almost 50 Km away is the fascinating town of Matera with the renown extensive cave-dwelling districts, the sassi, UNESCO world heritage and 2019 European Capital of Culture candidate city.
